I started writing a haiku a day in July 2011 as a journaling project - a creative challenge that would also chronicle the ordinary moments of life. It has been a great discipline for encouraging me to think about the aspect of each day that stands out, and how to craft that into three lines of five, seven and five syllables.
Jan 21 - Sometimes All That's Really Notable About A Day Is That You Were Influenced By A Co-Worker's Comments To Buy Groceries After Work At A Store That's Too Far To Walk From If You're Carrying Stuff
I could stagger home
But damn it, I'll spend two bucks
Taxi, carry me
