I started writing a haiku a day in July 2011 as a journaling project - a creative challenge that would also chronicle the ordinary moments of life. It has been a great discipline for encouraging me to think about the aspect of each day that stands out, and how to craft that into three lines of five, seven and five syllables.
Feb 23 - I Feel Good About The Rescue But Will Not Soon Forget The Feeling Of Sinking Calf-Deep In Sticky Sea Mud When I Stepped Into The Weird Little Ocean Pool
Poor trapped puffer fish
I scoop him with two glasses
Fling him to the sea
