I started writing a haiku a day in July 2011 as a journaling project - a creative challenge that would also chronicle the ordinary moments of life. It has been a great discipline for encouraging me to think about the aspect of each day that stands out, and how to craft that into three lines of five, seven and five syllables.
Aug 6 - A Very Long Day At The Rocks At Thetis Lake Following A Hilly Cycle That Reminded Me Why I've Gotten Into The Habit Of Driving To The Main Beach
I arrive sweaty
The lake is soft and quiet
Floaties not yet here
