I started writing a haiku a day in July 2011 as a journaling project - a creative challenge that would also chronicle the ordinary moments of life. It has been a great discipline for encouraging me to think about the aspect of each day that stands out, and how to craft that into three lines of five, seven and five syllables.
A little trick I do with my blog is to have a number of draft posts ready to plug in when I don't have something other to post. I know I'm not alone in enjoying your daily haiku and really hope you keep it up.
Thanks for your encouraging words, Janice! One of my problems is that these haiku have to reflect that day, so I can't write them in advance. I could, however - and should - jot something down quickly at the end of the day that I can enter later on the blog. I do really want to try to keep this up.
