I started writing a haiku a day in July 2011 as a journaling project - a creative challenge that would also chronicle the ordinary moments of life. It has been a great discipline for encouraging me to think about the aspect of each day that stands out, and how to craft that into three lines of five, seven and five syllables.
July 2 - A Glorious Day Of Doing Nothing But Taking In The Views At The Fancy House Would Have Been More Fun Without Having To Get On My Bike At 7:30 PM And Ride To Esquimalt

If only I had the car
Rockheights hill kills me
